Silly Little Coins
There are little silver coins that litter the sidewalks of St. Petersburg, Russia. In a city where money, or a distinct lack thereof, is so apparent, I thought this was a bit odd. I grabbed a handful of them and discovered that they were one kopeck coins. As in, 1/100th of a ruble.
Google tells me: 1 Russian ruble = 0.0352756 U.S. dollars
Which means these coins are worth a whopping 0.000352756 U.S. dollars, or 3/100ths of a penny each. How silly. That doesn't even buy anything in Russia.
